Dec 15, 2007 - I got to see WPVI first-hand as part of the audience for a taping of "AM Philadelphia" in 1986. I thought it was cool that you could look through a huge window into the TV Operations(master control?)room. What amazed me was how many VTR's they had in that room.

Apr 29, 2008 - No offense people in Philly but Jim Gardner best days are behind him. Even Bill Beutel at NYC's ABC/Ch.7 gave up the anchor chair around 2000 a couple of years before Beutel passed away. Any info about Mr. Garnder stepping aside or at least giving up either his 6 or 11pm newscasts?

Jim Gardner was probably the best local anchor in Philadelphia TV history. However just like a great sports player he been on air too long. All i said was he should give up on 1 of newscasts he hosts. Do you want another Hal Fisherman another great anchorman from LA who died from overwork? Not wishing that on Gardner.

May 6, 2009 - I remember the call sign switch From WFIL to WPVI. This is history which I remember. I grew up in Vineland, NJ. Jim O'Brien did work for channel 6 and also for WFIL Famous 56 as an on air personality. Than ks for a bit of history.
