My 7yo daughter got philosophical while we were putting together a birdhouse kit and painting it yesterday morning. Brief discussion of animism, free will, and Barbie, along with hibernation, migration, and a brief tribute to Edgar Allen Poe.
My wife and son were off on a local Frank Lloyd Wright field trip, so I decided to make my day alone with my daughter a special one. The birdhouse kit had been sitting in our kitchen and on my to-do list for weeks (months?). I took about 30 minutes of video on my digital camera, then I let my daughter loose at a local indoor kids playspace while I edited it all on my laptop.
New video skills for me: using the "Ken Burns Effect" of zooming into a still photo; separating the sound track from the visuals; much more ambitious editing; and doing it all on a Mac.
